Moving Averages
This section covers the Simple moving average, which is simply an average price over time, the exponential moving average, which is more complex and places extra weight on prior values, plus several other types of moving averages like weighted averages, triangular averages, time series calculations, and so forth.
Linear Regression Functions
A classic statistical problem is to try to determine the relationship between two random variables X and Y such as the closing price of a stock over time. Linear regression attempts to explain the relationship with a straight line fit to the data.
Band Indicators
Certain technical indicators are designed for overlaying on price charts to form an envelope or band around the underlying price. Bollinger bands, moving average bands, and other bands are covered in this section.
Oscillator Indicators
This section covers technical indicators that oscillate from one value to another. Most oscillators measure the velocity of directional price or volume movement. These indicators often go into overbought and oversold zones, at which time a reaction or reversal is possible.
Index Indicators
This section covers technical indicators that are known as indexes, such as the very popular Relative Strength Index, Historical Volatility Index, and many others.
General Indicators
This section covers technical indicators that don't exactly fit into the other categories, such as Candlestick Recognition for example.
